Gail Packer is a nationally recognized artist and her etchings are a part of many private and corporate collections. All of Gail's etchings are framed in folk art frames handpainted by artist Hildy Henry.

"In my prints I am searching for a Pastoral Concept of the world. My goal is to combine Medieval Art (the book of Hours), the Decorative Art Movement, ancient civilizations and the country environment where I live.  I like using my art to glorify simple things (sheep in a field) by giving them a setting once reserved only for religious objects.  I normally use a combination of up to thirty photographs to formulate my ideas before I begin working on the copper plates.

I have chosen the medium of Printmaking because I like the concept of multiples as well as the effects that one can achieve only through Intaglio work.  The fusion of painting concepts with the print making process is very stimulating to me.  The prints are all etched in copper plates and printed on a Sturges press.  I use a soft ground etching technique, which produces a pencil-like tone and line.  It is the interaction of color on various plates printed together that gives a wide range of color and texture to the prints." ----Gail Packer
